Settings goals seems like an easy task, but let me ask you, have you set any
goals lately? If you have, good for you, but I believe most of us haven't set
any new goals lately for the simple reason that we haven't achieved our old one's.
Goal setting is an important step in getting organized. There are three things
you want to consider when setting goals.
1. Decide what you really want!
2. Be realistic!
3. Determine to achieve your goals!
Do you really know what you want? I ask this question for a very good reason,
because most people don't. I have sold various things in my life, and I have
learned several lessons, but probably learned the most important lesson while I
was selling cars. Most people really don't know what they want. We live in an
impulsive society, and we often make decisons based upon impulse, rather than
planning. The result is often a disaster. No money, huge debts, unpaid bills,
family problems.
Decide what it is that you really want! Notice I didn't say, decide what it is that
you must do. That's the negative approach. You want to be skinny, and sexy, and
beautiful. You want to have a nice house, and a nice car. You want to be independently
wealthy. That's right, dream dream's. This is the beginning of the goal setting process.
But, let's be realistic here. I know I just said don't be negative, and being
realistic does not have to be negative. You need to be realistic, so that you will be
able to accomplish your goals. Make small goals that you know you can achieve first.
You can get that plastic surgery, when you become independently wealthy. You could
start by setting a goal to be 20 pounds lighter in 1 year. And, maybe you could set a
goal to be 365 dollars richer in one year, simply by putting a dollar in a jar every
day for a year. If you could achieve this, imagine the good feeling you will have as you
tell others how you achieved your goals. These are just examples. Figure out what it is you want,
and set some realistic goals.
Determine to achieve your goals. If your goals are positive goals, that you really
want, and if they are realistic, you should be able to make a decision to achieve your goals.
Start right now! Determine to achieve your goals. Throw aside all the negative stuff, and let's
get started.
The first step in getting organized is setting realistic positive goals, and determining
to achieve those goals. You need to choose your destination before you can plan and organize your
journey.
