You gotta have a plan! Even though you might not know what you're doing, you gotta have a plan.
I can't think of anytime, when I planned something, that I didn't change the plan as I went
along. The point is: you need to set some goals, and make a plan. You need to rework your plan,
and rework your plan, and did I mention - rework your plan? You will learn so many things
along the way. There is a wealth of information about Search Engine Optimization on the Web.
Decide what your website is about. You need to be specific, even if you change your content
altogether later on. Focus on what your website is about. Are you gonna sell stuff? If so, what
exactly are you gonna sale, and how much money do you plan on making in a given amount of time?
Is your site about information? If so, what kind of information is it about? The search engines
love information. That's what the Web was originally created to provide. Be specific! Are you
an artist? I have a friend who is a writer. His name is Scott Endsley. Check out his
site at http://scott.endsley.com. Scott put his novel
online. It was considerably large, and so the search engines gave him listings under many
different keywords. When Scott planned his site, I don't think he had any idea that he would
get so many listings, and the resulting traffic. But, he made a plan, and submitted his site
to the search engines. He also paid professionals to help optimize and submit his site. The
results were awesome.
Of course, if you plan, and don't work the plan, all your planning is in vain. Experience
has taught me that the harder I work, the better the results. In the past I planned and
dreamed. Now, I'm fulfilling my plans and dreams.
